Inquisimunda Battle Report

The otherworldly Navigators of the Splinter-House Merz-Itano - drawn to the mysteries of Profundis but pursuing their own inscrutable objectives - have crash landed on the moon of Rhysia in the Profundis system: a ruined forgeworld moon with grim secrets below its crust. Mutants, known as Scaws stalk the ash waste.

Centuries of breeding in isolation amongst the industrial waste and under the tainted light of Profundis has led to horrendous abominations.

The Navigators begin searching for survivors with the assistance of their mercenary allies.

Begin

Near Transcore Hive, Moon of Rhysia, The Profundis System

The Scaws survive by hunting the human survivors of the planet or anyone foolish enough to pay them a visit.

Next

As the drifting chem-storm begins to subside, toxic fog and dust clouds part to reveal the Merz Itano Lander and a few of the Volt Oxides: tech gangers hired as guards.

Next

Weylan Glytch of the Volt Oxides begins to advance, pointing out some shadowy figures in the distance.

Next

The figures he has seen are the first of the scattered Merz-Itano landing party, Aetherseer Lemura Kodom and her lesser brother-cousin Pharmonbozius. They begin to make their way to the safety of the Lander.

Next

Johnny Mentatic's bioscanner picks up life signs on the other side of the wrecked crawler. The Volt Oxides advance to investigate. Hiding in the wreckage the mutants Dkorg, Ki, and Yggy watch the invaders with hunger and curiosity.

Next

Taking shelter behind the broken down Merz-Itano hover-sledge, Glytch signals that the way forward is clear.

Next

Bounding on great mechanical legs, Doctor Paracelsus Takwin joins the Volt Oxides, attempting to establish a perimeter. The health and well-being of his beloved master is of course his highest concern.

Next

Finally Novator Lebbeus Alcubierre emerges, awkward in the gravity of the moon. He is accompanied as always by his most trusted retainer, Fencing Master Toshir Mifunus.

Next

The shambling mutants of Transcore Hive reveal themselves. With Topoak leading the way, Mkaz, Tsokag and Snogoag, Chukkr and Bindi follow close behind.

Next

And on the archeo-steppes of the rubble slab, a showdown begins. Volt Oxide Endo Crash attempts to get a better firing position against his hideous counter-part Mobbat, a mutant whose eye stalk mutation gives him superior aim. Mobbat guns down his rival even as his ramshackle heavy stubber jams.

Next

Now joined by the Doctor's nurse-mule assistant, Lemura Kodom and the Volt Oxides advance on the crawler to investigate if the movement is coming from other lost members of the landing party.

Next

The towering Obbos emerges, but the giant quickly falters as the schizophrenic is scared and confused by the bizarre invaders. The simple-minded mutant falters and Nxud - his caretaker - seeing his distress, runs back to guide him.

Next

Meanwhile, the malevolent Yag the Wyrd reaches out with his powers, flying up to perch on long-abandoned stilt shanty. His over-developed wyrd brain is alive with possibilities; never before has he been so close to such deeply warp-tinged minds. For a moment, he almost feels kinship with the invaders before hunger gets the better of him.

Next

Doctor Paracelsus, in addition to caring for his master, is a devout believer in the sanctity of the perfected Human. Although he loves the elevated, intentionally altered human - as a holy reflection of the Omnissiah's own work - he despises the mutant, the random unplanned deviation. Such scrap-code must be expurgated post haste.

The one true goal of every learned initiate in the Cult Mechanicus must be to move ever closer to the mind of the Omnissiah

As is recorded in the great annals (and verified by innumerable dataslates, wafer-scrolls, and crystal dictats), when He decided to construct His holy armies to reclaim the galaxy and purge it of unclean thought, what technological miracle did he perform?

And what branch of knowledge did he use to perform said miracle?

>> geneto-engineering, bio-implants, and psycho-surgery (what we know today as the arts of fleshcraft)

What form did the Emperor take when he deigned to walk the material plane?

>> that of a human being, perfected (note it can further be known that this form was taken by CHOICE for G*d is omnipotent and therefore could have manifested as a metal thinking machine, but in fact chose not to

The Omnissiah's favored form of technology is therefore fleshcraft

:: postulation ::

Therefor, flesh is NOT weak. Flesh in fact stronger and more holy than machine.

The Dictacts of Doctor Paracelus

Back to the battle

Yag the Wyrd observes the Doctor:

"What a fool this off-worlder must be! Charging forward into our midst? Not much meat on him, but so many delicious brains, pulsing with so much knowledge."

Next

The Doctor's supreme confidence in his own battle subroutines and perfected body may have been misplaced. He defeats some lesser mutants, but meets his match in Obbos, the giant. At first he holds off the wild strikes from his mutant doppleganger, who is confused and scared. But goaded on by his mutant brothers, Obbo's fear turns to dumb anger... striking down Paracelsus with a single blow of his chitinous claw.

Next

Much to Kodom's horror, the life signs on the other side of the crawler were not her lost kin, but more hideous mutants! She managed to catch one directly wither her baleful warp gaze and moves forward to crush the life from it with her mechanical walking rig.

Next

Yag the Wyrd engages in a mind war with Novator Lebbeus and succeeds in clouding his mind, while Lebbeus attempts to unleash his warp-eye. As the mind war rages, Yag is brought down by stubber fire from the Volt Oxides and starts to bleed out. With a final telepathic command Yag commands his kin forward to murder the invaders.

Next

Bellowing with bloodlust, Obbos charges directly at Novator Lebbeus. Lebbeus attempts to drive the soul from his body with the lidless stare, but the beast is too stupid and stubborn to even meet his gaze. His flapping murder-drone attempts to defend him but he is too struck down by the claw. This causes his beloved nephew, Aetherprophet Praenat-Yume to flee in terror.

Next

Outpaced by the huge freak, Praenat-Yume is overtaken. He too unsuccessfully attempts a warp-eye attack, before engaging in a heroic last stand. He manages to last much longer than either Lebbeus or the doctor, following the chains of causation and probability, and blocking every blow with his trusty warp-anchor staff, even landing a few solid blows and provoking bellows of pain. But he is hopelessly outmatched.

Next

Devout Lodge Warrior Laika finally emerges from the fog. Wracked with horror by the carnage before him, he is faced with an impossible choice. His heirloom aethervane gun might be able bring down the giant attacking the Aetherprophet, but could he risk such a shot? Or play it safe and blast some mutants in the open. Trusting in his faith, he turns his gun on the giant and fires … missing both targets completely.

Next

Finally Lemura Kodom realizes she is the only Navis Nobilite left standing, and reluctantly decides to abort the secret mission. Turning her backs on her fallen kin, she rushes up into the lander, bringing the only other surviving off-worlder, Laika, with her.

End

The battle ends in victory for the mutants

Although Yag the Wyrd, their diminuitive leader, has fallen the mutants have fought off the invaders and secured the rad wastes they call home.
